Start a Chat Through SMS

Wouldn’t it be great if you could read emails through social media? Or texts through an email? Unfortunately, you can’t. But customers can start a chat with your company through any text based customer service channel and not just from your website!


 

Emails do have their benefits – for example, they are less demanding than phone calls and can be referred back to if need be. Emails are informative and can reach out to multiple recipients in the email chain. Although they are a simple form of text that can go around the whole office in seconds, they don’t have a word count, so the sender doesn’t have to limit the information included. But did you know you can build in a text link or button image that can directly open a chat window from the email? Instant and immediate communication available from an email could transform future marketing campaigns.

Social Media also has its pros. It’s a free way of engaging with friends, family, businesses and getting updates from the latest news. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram allow unlimited posts. Due to Twitter having a specific character count, it can be difficult to squeeze information into 140 characters. All texts are likely to be received and always notified when one has come through, as no internet connection is needed. Texts can also be referred back to and don’t need to be answered straight away. But even SMS messages can incorporate a link to the chat window! A simple link is included within the SMS text message and can be selected to continue the conversation in a chat window. Familiarly with texting on a mobile can aid the speed of a chat started on SMS.
