Who are Click4Assistance?

Click4Assistance is the UK’s premier chat software provider, managing, designing, developing and integrating chat for websites as well as other web-based communication services.

During the early 2000s, it became clear to our founding members that websites were more than just shopfronts for online businesses. Instead, we saw them as interactive forums – places where customers and brand representatives could meet and talk.

Unfortunately, back then, the number of communication options was limited. Customers could interact with online stores and service providers, but they had to send emails which were clunky. Conversing naturally with a member of staff was not yet a part of the experience. 

However, that all changed in 2006 when Click4Assistance began offering business customers the first iteration of its live-chat products. Following this decision, website owners could talk to customers in real-time about their requirements. The breakthrough was significant for both the firm and its customers.

Our History

Starting more than a decade ago, Click4Assistance had a vision for improving online communications. By 2006, we implemented the first version of our Live Chat Software, and forward-thinking companies quickly adopted it. The solution made it possible to communicate with customers on their websites in real-time, as if they were in-store.

By 2010, interest in the online messaging concept had grown and more company sites were starting to use it. Organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureau and Honeywell began adopting our chat solutions on their websites, giving customers a preferred communication format that didn’t involve dialling a phone. Help was available immediately where users wanted it, native to the website.

Because of our services’ popularity, we invested significantly in our infrastructure. We increased our server capacity and started hosting on new premises. To manage our data, we chose Equinix (then called Telecity), the largest and most secure data centre available in the UK.

From there, our expansion continued. In 2014, we released “The Toolbox.” This was an online communications tool that included additional features that brands could use to smooth relations with their customers, including Video Chat, smartContact and more. Following this innovation, our customer base grew and we welcomed new partnerships with contact centres and marketing agencies.

In 2018, we moved to larger premises and finalised the development of our Experiences by Click4Assistance, a new format that changed the way we delivered live chat software. Instead of relying on old protocols, the new approach was fully GDPR-compliant and featured improved “encryption at rest,” allowing us to provide solutions to organisations demanding the most secure communications possible. Customers included police forces, the NHS and financial institutions.

Throughout the process, our focus remained entirely on our clients. We consider every successful live chat website implementation a victory, no matter how large or small. Click4Assistance now works with some of the UK’s biggest organisations but we also take care of our smaller clients.
