Wix’s New ChatGPT-Powered Tools Build Websites For You
Wix will soon release a ChatGPT-powered version of its website creation template tools, enabling users to build stunning websites with a conversational ui from simple text prompts.
ChatGPT and similar technologies let you write stories, poems, blogs, and news articles with a single prompt. Not to be left behind, Wix is now enabling website creators to do the same. The long-standing website template tool will infuse its core services with OpenAI’s language models, allowing people to create entire websites in minutes without any prior skill or expertise.
The company believes the new conversational UI will have a transformative effect on its customers and how budding entrepreneurs and designers approach the creative process. CEO Avishai Abrahami says the new ChatGPT-powered site generator will “drive forward the next generation of website creation.” Users will be able to bring beautiful, highly functional websites into existence with nothing more than a few text prompts.
Even so, Wix is still playing catch-up. Standalone large language model-based website creators have been around for some time. Squarespace has had artificial intelligence infusion in its services for several months, enabling conversational marketing.
With that said, Wix is no stranger to extensive updates. It frequently adds new functionality to its core creator, giving users almost Wordstream-like levels of customisation. The latest change will see the introduction of a ChatGPT-powered chatbot assistant that will take simple text instructions and turn them into the user’s vision, according to a blog on the company’s website.
Users will gain more than mere efficiency, the firm says. Abrahami believes that AI-infused technology will also bring qualitative changes. Rather than having the content fit the template, he says, the design will adjust to fit the subject matter. AI decides the best format for the website based on the user’s prompts.
Undoubtedly, these changes will make Wix more competitive in a crowded space. The company’s historical strategy was to put users on rails, avoiding the complexity of a true sandbox. It was a trade-off between personalisation and usability. Now, though, the firm is going through a paradigmatic transformation, embracing the power of artificial intelligence to overcome old compromises. Customers will be able to create stunning, beautifully-planned websites that reflect their intentions and goals while providing all the add-on functionality required for their specific use cases.
On that point, the ChatGPT-powered version of Wix will still do all the things new website creators expect. The company confirms it remains capable of generating beautiful ecommerce sites, scheduling and ticketing. The difference will be that the AI will insert these functions automatically, depending on users’ prompts.
Abrahami expects the new way of creating websites to have massive waves in the community once released. Companies will no longer need to build websites from scratch, which can take considerable time. Instead, AI will be a kind of co-pilot, enabling faster website creation that more accurately reflects the user’s vision.
Wix hasn’t provided a date for when it will release the tool. However, users can still benefit from other forms of AI assistance during website creation, such as text generators and image creators.
